August 6th – 9th, 2015
This year marks the 170th Peterborough Exhibition, older than the country we live in. Through the years there have been many volunteers, directors and exhibitors that have given the most valuable thing they could, time! Without these people it would not have been possible to reach such a monumental milestone. Even though the EX has changed and will continue to change the one thing that remains the same is the willingness of our supporters to give our community the best event possible.
We have already achieved some “firsts” for the Exhibition. On June 25th we kicked off our 170th year by having “The SkyHawks” parachute into Morrow Park in front of over 700 school children. “The SkyHawks” are Canada’s only Military Parachute Team. They performed some astonishing acrobatic aerial moves that amazed the children and onlookers. It was an absolute honour for the Agricultural Society to host them that day.
The Peterborough Agricultural Society continues to try and find new and exciting events and programs for our community. This year we will be bringing onto the grounds a “wine garden”. It will feature local wineries and food vendors. Also, on Sunday August 9th we will be hosting Family Day. Children under the age of 13 will get into the Exhibition for free!
And of course we will be hosting the always popular Demolition Derby, Truck and Tractor pulls and Pig Races. On the Agricultural side we continue to host one of the most well attended Beef shows in the Province. This show lets the exhibitors bring out their top cattle and compete for Supreme Female and Supreme Male which comes with $1000 in prize money. Every year our open horse show brings some of the best show people from the county. Our Dairy show continues to draw local producers that have been showing at the Peterborough EX for decades. What fair would be complete without the Homecraft building, you can walk through and check out the fine foods, quilting, art, photography and many other categories.
So come on out and help us celebrate the 170th Peterborough Exhibition.
