4th Line Theatre is pleased to announce a community play workshop and public reading of its flagship play The Cavan Blazers. On Saturday, February 6th, 4th Line invites community members to participate in a free workshop of 4th Line Theatre Robert Winslow’s seminal play The Cavan Blazers which tells the story of the conflicts between Protestants and Catholics in the early days of white settlement in Cavan. The Cavan Blazers was the first play that Robert Winslow wrote and produced for 4th Line, making it a perfect choice to revisit as part of 4th Line’s landmark 25th anniversary year. The day-long workshop will culminate in a free public reading of the play.

The workshop offers an opportunity for community members interested in being involved with 4th Line Theatre or those who have volunteered as actors in the past to receive free training and mentorship under 4th Line’s Managing Artistic Director, Kim Blackwell and Founder and Creative Director, Robert Winslow. Blackwell will direct the reading and is excited to hold this event as it is an opportunity to involve the wonderful and talented community of the region in an off-season artistic project. 4th Line will be casting readers of various ages and genders to participate in the workshop/reading.

If you would like to be involved as an actor, please contact 4th Line’s Artistic Administrator, Kelsey Powell via e-mail at kelsey@4thlinetheatre.on.ca or phone at 705-932-4505. Roles will be assigned on a first-come basis and registration is free of charge.

The event will be held at the Centreville Presbyterian Church in South Monaghan, 574 County Rd. 28. The public reading of Robert Winslow’s The Cavan Blazers begins at 4:00 pm. Seating is limited and admission is free. Please contact 4th Line’s Box Office Manager, Sarah Bedford at 705-932-4448 to reserve your seat.
