The 29th Rotary/Carl Oake Swimathon will take place on Friday, February 13th, in the YMCA pool from 7:00 to 8:30 am.
Over the past 33 years, this event has raised more than $900,000 to support local worthwhile causes such as Easter Seals, 5 Counties Children Foundation, The New Peterborough Regional Health Centre, the New YMCA, the YWCA Women’s Crossroads Shelter, The Rotary Greenway Trail and Musicfest, to name a few.
This year’s goal is to raise $55,000 through the efforts of, we hope, over 40 teams taking part in swimming for 5 minutes each and local Corporate sponsorship. We have many of our high schools, local companies, and our fire department and police department teams attending this year. Each team will consist of 4 or 5 swimmers each swimming one lap of the pool. There will be recognition awards handed out to the Top Corporate Fundraiser, Top Individual Fundraiser and the wacky/funniest dressed team.
