Huffington Post news article on Peterborough’s Job Growth

General

Daniel Tencer reports on the Huffington Post web site that Peterborough, Ontario is the second worst city in Canada to find a job. This information is based on BMO’s labour market report card. Tencer reports that “Many of the other cities that have seen the worst deterioration in their labour markets are in Ontario, which is unexpected because Ontario and B.C. currently lead the country on job growth.”

Worst cities to find a job in Canada:
Worst: Kelowna, B.C.
2nd Worst: Peterborough, Ont.
3rd worst: Calgary, Alta.
4th Worst: St. John’s, Nfld.
5th Worst: Kitchener, Ont.
6th Worst: Sudbury, Ont.
7th Worst: Barrie, Ont.
8th Worst: Saskatoon, Sask.
9th Worst: Brantford, Ont.
10th Worst: Halifax, N.S.

NOTE: The article notes that the site actually lists the city with the fastest deterioration on BMO’s list — this is not the list itself, which can be found here.

Lets hope that current and future City planning as well as local Economic Development changes this statistic for the City of Peterborough and it’s wonderful residents!
