Funding for a Skateboard Park in Lakefield Received!

The Township of Selwyn will be receiving $55,000 in funding from the Ontario Trillium Foundation for the construction of a Skateboard Park in Isabel Morris Park in the Village of Lakefield. The project is expected to be completed by late 2016.

The skateboard park has already been designed by local youth during the Youth “Can Do” Initiative; where they gained leadership and project management skills while designing an inclusive skateboard park. As a Township, it is important to provide the residents, and especially the youth of this community, with a sense of ownership, community pride and involvement. This project provided youth with the opportunity to get involved in their community and it is important that they feel that they have contributed and are being heard.

With the addition of $55,000 in funding from the Ontario Trillium Foundation, the skateboard park has now received a total of $140,000 in funding from provincial and federal organizations in support of this project!
